What are the waiting times for medical procedures in Turkey?
Medical procedures have much shorter waiting times in Turkey compared to the UK. Treatment can begin as short as a few days or a couple of weeks. For emergency procedures, you could be flown out overnight and in treatment the next day.

Is medical tourism in Turkey safe?
Medical tourism in Turkey is safe, however all medical procedures carry some level of risk.

Are doctors in Turkey reputable?
There are many doctors in Turkey that are very reputable. About 15,000 of these doctors have been educated in the UK or USA.

Do Turkish medical professional speak English fluently?
Many Turkish medical professionals speak English fluently. The majority of the hospitals and clinics we work with have International Patient Departments and in these departments, the staff are fluent in five or six languages, including English.
If you were referred to a doctor whose English was poor, we would arrange for you to have an interpreter to hand during all communication.

How is the post-treatment care and follow up handled in Turkey?
Post-treatment care and follow up is handled by the hospitals and doctors in Turkey. They will be readily available to answer any questions you may have upon your return to the UK.
In addition, Axudar Health can also be contacted after you return to the UK.

How do I communicate with Axudar Health and medical professionals during my treatment?
You will be able to communicate with Axudar Health and medical professionals throughout your treatment. You will also be given contact mobile numbers and WhatsApp accounts for relevant people at Axudar Health – we can be contacted 7 days a week.

Are there any additional costs or hidden fees I should be aware of?
Our services are free of charge for you. The treatment cost amount is paid by you directly to the chosen healthcare facility in Turkey, as agreed between the you and the healthcare facility.
The only time there may be additional costs, would be if there were complications during your procedure / surgery, or if you asked for an additional procedure.

Which hospitals do Axudar Health work with?
Axudar Health work with a wide variety of hospitals in Turkey, all of whom are members of the Turkish Healthcare Travel Council (THTC)
The THTC has long-standing arrangements with 375 of the best Turkish healthcare facilities, including hospitals, dental clinics, aesthetic clinics and wellness centres.
It is very important to us that we match you to the most suitable and appropriate hospital, doctor or well-being centre. We will work with you to make this happen.

Are the hospitals in Turkey safe?
There are many very safe hospitals in Turkey. It is very important to us that you receive the most appropriate treatment possible and that your health improves. To help ensure this, we work only with reputable and high-quality doctors, hospitals and clinics.

What accreditations do the hospitals have?
Some hospitals are accredited with the JCI.

Do I need to organise my own travel to Turkey?
You can if you wish. However, we can arrange this for you. We would talk about this as part of our initial discussions. We would be able to arrange a door-to-door service, if that would be easiest for you.

Will I picked up from the airport?
Yes, if that is what you would prefer. You would then be taken to your hotel.

Will my hotel know I am receiving medical treatment? If so, will they assist me?
Yes. There are hotels close to most of the hospitals and clinics with whom we work. Patient’s stay in these hotels on a regular basis and the staff are used to assisting patients as needed.

Do I need to stay at a specific hotel?
We arrange for you to stay at hotels close to the hospital. These hotels are used to supporting patients. However, if you want to stay in a hotel of your choice, that is absolutely fine.

Can I travel and stay with a companion?
Yes.

Is there any cultural or religious considerations to be aware of during my stay in Turkey?
There are a few cultural and religious considerations to be aware of during your stay in Turkey. Turkey is a multi-cultural / secular country. Whilst the largest religion is Islam, there are also Christian, Jewish and Hindu populations. We will give you a heads up if there is anything to consider during your stay, for example Ramadan or Eid.

You should let your doctor know that you are going to Turkey for treatment.

How does Axudar Health help with aftercare?
Axudar Health does not offer advice on aftercare. We are a medical tourism facilitator, not a medical provider. We cannot advise on aftercare. We do not provide medical advice. However, we will remain in contact with you after you return to the UK and will support you as needed.

What is the availability of aftercare services and rehabilitation facilities in Turkey?
There are many aftercare services and rehabilitation facilities available in Turkey. The Turkish healthcare infrastructure is significant and very highly developed. The hospitals we work with are state-of-the-art.
The hospitals and doctors would be able to provide most any aftercare and rehabilitation services. We would be delighted to speak to you about this once we understand your specific needs.

What if my doctor doesn’t agree with me going to Turkey?
Your doctor may not agree with you going to Turkey, this could be due to a concern related to your health, or simply unconscious bias. You do not need permission from your GP to undergo a medical procedure abroad, you have the ability to advocate for yourself and your treatment. If their opinion is based on your health, we would need to be aware of this before sending you for treatment so we can consider it in your treatment plan.

Do Axudar Health need access to my medical records?
It would be helpful if we had access to your medical records, so that we know what has been sent to the hospitals in Turkey and what they are sending back. All such communication will be sent via a highly secure portal or be password protected. Axudar Health abides by all GDPR regulations.

How do I access my medical records?
You can request your medical records from your GP practice. Alternatively, you can download the NHS App which has all your medical records available to you.

Will Axudar Health help me if I have any issues?
Axudar Health are available 7 days a week to provide support, encouragement and guidance.
